DAY 1 ARRIVE AUCKLAND
On arrival at Auckland International Airport after picking up your reserved car from Thrifty Car hire you proceed to the conveniently located Scenic Circle Airedale Hotel in downtown Auckland where you will be staying for the next 2 nights.
DAY 2 GOLF AT GULF HARBOUR COUNTRY CLUB
Today you play the magnificent new resort course at Gulf Harbour Country Club venue for this years New Zealand Open. This is a truly unbelievable new layout to rival any international resort. The resort hosted the prestigious World Cup in 1998 just confirming how highly it rates. The famous designer Robert Trent Jones II likens it to the illustrious Pebble Beach in California .
DAY 3 AUCKLAND / ROTORUA
Today you head south to the amazing Geo Thermal wonderland of Rotorua. This afternoon is free to explore some of the excellent sightseeing options. Try a gondola ride for a fantastic panorama or view the huge trout at Rainbow Springs. Tonight's accommodation is at the new Ventura Suites and Inn
DAY 4 GOLF AT ROTORUA GOLF CLUB/ TAUPO
Todays round of golf is at the Rotorua Golf Club course locally known as "Arikikappakappa". The course has some beautiful new holes as well as 18 recently remade undulating greens. The volcanic nature of the layout and its surroundings make for some hazards well worth avoiding. After golf a 50 minute drive will have us at the excellent Wairakei Resort at Taupo where you will be staying for the next 2 nights in a deluxe room.
DAY 5 GOLF AT WAIRAKEI INTERNATIONAL
This morning's round of golf is at the wonderful Wairakei International Golf course in a motorised cart. Rated in the top 20 Golf courses in the world outside the US by Golf Digest, Wairakei is a course of magnificent natural beauty and charm. Its testing layout which was redesigned by 5 times British Open winner Peter Thompson is also very special. After golf there will be time to relax back at the Resort or have a look around Lake Taupo . DAY 6 TAUPO/ AUCKLAND
This morning is free to look around beautiful Lake Taupo . Fishing or cruising on the lake are popular options. This afternoon's drive takes you back to bustling Auckland and the Airedale Hotel.
DAY 7 GOLF AT MURIWAI LINKS
This morning’s round of golf is out on the rugged West Coast at Muriwai Links Golf Club. A scenic 45 minute drive will take you out to this hidden gem and its stunning coastline position. The layout features very large undulating greens that are always in great condition and fairways dotted with black sand pot bunkers giving the course a real “British Open” look.
After golf you can relax in the friendly clubhouse or take a quick drive up to the road to view the amazingly beautiful and famous gannet colony at the top of the headland.
DAY 8 DEPART AUCKLAND
After returning your car full of petrol to Thrifty Car hire its time to head home to the scenic south Island. After arriving at Christchurch International Airport you pick up your reserved car from Thrifty Car rental. After rental formalities are completed you may be able to catch some city highlights before settling in at the comfortable Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge Christchurch.
DAY 9 GOLF AT THE TERRACE DOWNS RESORT / TWIZEL
Your southern journey takes you across the fertile Cantebury Plains to the excellent new Terrace Downs Golf Resort. This inspiring new Resort is nestled above the beautiful Rakaia river amongst spectacular scenery. The clubhouse which is quite magnificent is the perfect venue to discuss todays golf. After golf we will stop at the postcard setting of the Church of the Good Shepherd and take in the aqua coloured Lake Tekapo and the snow capped mountains surrounding it. Also stop at the lookout to Mt Cook to view New Zealand's highest mountain. Tonights Hotel is the comfortable MacKenzie Country Inn at Twizel.
DAY 10 TWIZEL/ QUEENSTOWN
Your drive South takes you through the orchard district of Cromwell before you wind through the Kawarua Gorge towards fantastic Queenstown one of the prettiest towns in the world. You will be staying here for 3 nights at the Coronet Alpine Hotel
DAY 11 GOLF AT THE MILLBROOK RESORT
Today you play New Zealand's most stylish Resort course Millbrook, a golf facility of quality and beauty. Surrounded by an amphitheatre of mountains this great layout has an English country feel about it. With four different tee difficulties to choose from, all golfers can enjoy This stunning course as well as its beautiful surroundings. The Spike Bar overlooks the water carry to the 18th green and provides some humourous moments. This afternoon there will be time to enjoy some of the attractions that have made Queenstown so famous.
DAY 12 QUEENSTOWN Y 12 QUEENSTOWN
Bring your camera as well as your clubs today for your visit to the scenically spectacular Kelvin Heights golf course. From every hole there is a majestic backdrop of snow capped mountains and crystal clear lake. The fifth hole "Shoreline" is one of the most photographed holes in golf. This is a must play golfing attraction. After your round here we will have time to share some hospitality with the local members at the clubhouse.
DAY 13 QUEENSTOWN/ GOLF AT BALMACEWEN/ DUNEDIN
You head south east this morning to the Scottish influenced coastal town of Dunedin. An afternoon game of golf on the excellent Balmacewen layout will be followed by a visit to the clubhouse. This is the oldest golf club in the Southern hemisphere and has an intriguing history. Accommodation is at the new 526 on George Boutique Hotel.
DAY 14 DUNEDIN / CHRISTCHURCH
This morning you follow the coastline north towards Christchurch. This afternoon there will be time to explore the "Garden" city. Hagley Park, the Avon river and the Cathedral are well worth a visit as well as some great shopping downtown. Tonights accommodation is at the Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge Christchurch. For the keen golfers there is an optional round of golf this afternoon or tomorrow morning at the excellent new Clearwater Resort.
DAY 15 DEPART CHRISTCHURCH
Today alas you have to return home. Drop off your vehicle to Thrifty Car hire full of petrol in preparation for your flight home. Memories of spectacular scenery, hospitable people and magnificent golf courses remain forever.
